Dragon Daoyin
The origins of Qigong are lost in the mists of time, and while we cannot be certain what the practice looked like 4000 years ago, there are certain themes and movements that are unquestionably at the core of a broad range of Qigong systems.
One of these practices is known as Dragon Daoyin. It embraces the idea of the Chinese Dragon and explores serpentine, spiralling movements that connect heaven and earth. It’s a playful, energising practice that can also be used to find greater inner peace and relaxation.
In the modern systems of Qigong (such as Zhineng), the influence of Dragon Daoyin is clear in practices such as Taiji Ball, while also being present, albeit in a more subtle way, in a vast range of other practices.
