Weekend Workshop – Qigong Principles of Movement

May 31 @ 9:30 am June 1 @ 4:00 pm

The Weekend Workshops are designed to give people with some experience of Qigong a deeper understanding of the benefits that can be found in the practice. They are small group sessions (typically 10 people) that run over two days, the first day being focussed on technique, the second day bringing focus into practice.

Overview

Beyond ideas of accuracy of movement lie the principles of movement. In the late May / early June weekend will explore these principles of movement within qigong in order to better understand qi flow and application of qigong in everyday life. Using simple movements, we will explore the way mobilising the joints enhances both qi flow and the ability to move simultaneously with power and grace.

Who is the workshop for?

The workshop is primarily designed for those with some experience of qigong or related, embodied practices. You do not need to have good flexibility or mobility, just a willingness to explore movement in a safe, supportive environment.

For Qigong Practitioners – The first day will explore concepts such as the 5 bows and methods that safely mobilise different joints in the body (including the spine). By the end of the first day we will be exploring the Dragon movements that are known in Zhineng Qigong as Taiji Ball. The second day will give the opportunity to explore how the movements and intentions can be further adapted to individual needs through practice sessions lead by the qigong teachers who attend the session.

For Qigong Teachers – the first day will explore teaching points and ways in which we can enhance the benefits of the practice while the second day will give you an opportunity to become more actively involved in leading practice and sharing ideas and experiences.
