SUMMARY:Lift Qi Up\, Pour Qi Down - What lies behind the movement
DESCRIPTION:Taking time to explore the details of both the physical and mental movement that lie within qigong is always beneficial as it helps us to unlock the potential of the practice. \nThis six week online course\, focusing on level 1 of Zhineng Qigong known as Lift Qi Up Pour Qi Down will breakdown the movement and theory in order to help those who want to become more effective in using this practice either for personal practice or in teaching others. \nThe programme will move methodically through the physical movements looking at accuracy of movement and a range of related intentions. This workshop suitable for all with or without experience of  qigong\, tai chi\, yoga and meditation.\nAbout Yan Cui:\nOriginally from China Yan first learned qigong from her grandfather\, then trained with Dr Pang Ming\, creator of Zhineng Qigong\, at the Medicineless Hospital in Beijing\, where her teaching helped many people find health and renew their lives through practice. SUMMARY:Healing Sounds Workshop with Yan Cui
DESCRIPTION:We are delighted to welcome Yan Cui to offer this workshop around the movements and sounds that underpin the 5 Organ Method of Zhineng Qigong. \n\n\n\nOver the weekend we will learn and practice the basic movements and sounds associated with the level 3 practice known as 5 Organ Method\, which is based in the 5 Element Theory that underpins Traditional and Classical Chinese Medicine. \n\n\n\nThis powerful healing practice will help to to balance and tonify the internal functions of the body. \n\n\n\nSome practicalities:\n\n\n\n\nBoth days will start at 10am and finish by 4:30pm.\n\n\n\nWe will eat lunch together and the invitation is to bring something to share. There is a kitchen on site and we plan to offer soup and bread for everyone.\n\n\n\nThere is plenty of parking on site\, but public transport is a bit rubbish (non-existent). DESCRIPTION:We’re not the greatest fan of rules… Anke Huerkamp\, Olivier Rijcken and John Millar work together in these online sessions to go beyond the rules and regulations of qigong in order to explore the true nature of the practice in a fun\, accessible and engaging way. \n\n\n\nAlthough these sessions are open to anyone who wants to come along and join us for practice and discussion\, the sessions will culminate in the Beyond Practice Retreat. SUMMARY:A Western Foundation for Teaching
DESCRIPTION:This 4 week\, online training explores the basic building blocks of teaching in the west including western anatomy and physiology\, learning styles and a range of teaching\, coaching and mentoring strategies. \n\n\n\nUnlike the fully accredited course\, joining this modular training will only provide you with a certificate of completion and we will not be asking you to submit work for marking and feedback. To find out more about the fully accredited training\, please visit the Teacher Training page. \n\n\n\nWeek 1 (17th Sept) – Basic Communication Skills for Qigong Teachers\n\n\n\nWith a strong focus on feedback\, questioning and listening skills\, this lecture/discussion explores the importance of communication both in teaching and in peer support. It is an important foundation for the rest of the training as we will be using these skills extensively in the coming months in order to support each other. \n\n\n\nWeek 2 (24th Sept) – Western Anatomy and Physiology for Qigong Teachers\n\n\n\nWhile Chinese Medicine underpins the practice of Qigong\, most people who come to a qigong class will only understand the body in western terms. From this perspective it is important to be able to relate to the western perspective of anatomy and physiology so that you are able to express your self clearly and have the ability to explain both the eastern and western perspectives.  \n\n\n\nNaomi Merritt will lead this session. Naomi worked for years and as a paramedic before moving into medical research. She combines her wealth of experience in Western medicine with her experience in qigong as a practitioner and teacher\, working in Oxfordshire in the UK. \n\n\n\nWeek 3 (1st October) – Teaching Methods and Aids\n\n\n\nUnderstanding the different ways that people learn means that we are able to teach diverse groups of learners more effectively. In this session we will explore the importance of tailoring your teaching to the group so as to gain maximum engagement and benefit. \n\n\n\nWeek 4 (8th October) – Presentation Week\n\n\n\nEach month we will have one week that is run as a presentation week with peer feedback\, In the western foundation month we will be asking you to present for 3 minutes on the basic concepts of Chinese Medicine for an audience of people who are only familiar with Western medicine.The presentations will be peer reviewed so this is also an opportunity to try out different teaching styles\, share different perspectives and learn from each other.
