Practical Preparations for Teaching

This online module is split into two sections. the first two sessions bringing emphasis to Health and Safety considerations, contraindications / qi reactions and running a qigong business, the second two weeks bringing greater focus into group dynamics and a deepening of the idea of qi field theory for teaching.

Unlike the fully accredited course, joining this modular training will only provide you with a certificate of completion and we will not be asking you to submit work for marking and feedback. To find out more about the fully accredited training, please visit the Teacher Training page

Week 1 (10th Dec) – Health and Safety, Contraindications and Qi Reactions

Understanding the benefits of health and safety is key to being a safe teacher and while we explore this through a range of standard forms, we then go on to look at more practical aspects of safety including contraindications and qi reactions.

Week 2 (17th Dec) – Marketing, Record Keeping and Insurance

Working as a qigong teacher requires a degree of business acumen. This session is not about becoming a sharp business person, it’s more about covering the basics and creating some space for you to consider how to promote yourself, keep records and ensure you have the required level of insurance for your needs.

Josef Puff will co lead this session. Joe is a partner with The Qigong Academy, supporting and helping to develop the business while also being a dedicated qigong practitioner, coach and mentor. Based near Bremen in northern Germany, Joe has a wealth of knowledge in website design, the use of social media for marketing and how to set up and grow a business.

Week 3 (7th Jan) – Qi Field Theory pt. 2 for Qigong Teachers

Revisiting the concept of qi fields, but this time with an eye on how we can influence and respond to group dynamics when teaching in different scenarios. This session picks up on the definitions of qi explored in the Eastern Foundation series while also revisiting the framework of 5 aspects taught in the Evolving as a Teacher series

Week 4 (14th Jan) – Presentation Week

Each month we will have one week that is run as a presentation week with peer feedback, In the western foundation month we will be asking you to present for 3 minutes on the use of 3 treasures and key parts of the body in qigong including Bai Hui, Hui Yin, Ming Men etc.. The presentations will be peer reviewed so this is also an opportunity to try out different teaching styles, share different perspectives and learn from each other.
